DVine inspiration struck in 2002 when recovering chef Joe Printz in a drastic need of career change, returned to Rockland County and opened The Grape DVine Wine Shop in a teeny-tiny retail space in Tappan, NY.

Joe’s original philosophy was that you could find not just good wine, but great wine for under $20. He knew because he tasted every wine that reps would bring him and he wouldn’t bring any wine into the shop unless he loved it. The shop became known for it’s great wine choices and witty (often eyebrow raising) shelf talkers. People started talking. Then, they started gathering at the area’s most original, fun and friendly wine shop. As the shop’s reputation grew for delicious and reasonably priced wine, the Grape DVine outgrew that teeny-tiny space.

In 2013, Grape DVine was on the move to an old house on the “Green at Depot Square” in Sparkill, NY—a short distance from the original shop. The shop was bigger, brighter and now able to hold all the wine Joe had had in his sights for years.

Joe’s Super Power is to suggest wine to pair with what ever food combinations you come up with. Whether it’s an oddball recipe pulled from the internet, a leftover extravaganza or dinner with friends and family, Joe and the staff at The Grape DVine will help you pair it with the perfect wine. No menu? No problem. We can help you pick the perfect libation for whatever mood you and your friends are in.

You can be confident in the choices we recommend because Joe—and the staff at GDV—still taste everything that comes into the shop. Yeah. It’s the hardest part of being at the GDV but we’ll take the hit for our customers.
